So, you would kind of expect that they are going to make a follow up call with five days from the receipt of the letter. They would not only give you a demand letter. They will also make sure that you get to now what your rights are regarding the amount that is being collected from you.

Understand that despite the fact that you are dealing with legit collectors, it is not all the time that they are going to be right, just like anybody out there, they are not immune to mistakes as well. So, just because a legit collector is calling you doesn't mean that the debt is going to be yours. There is a good chance that they might have their records wrong, researching on the alleged debt more gets you a better insight on what to do.

There are those that may call you saying that they are representing a lawyer's office. If this happens, make sure that you check if the firm is legit. Check with the state and federal bar association, then, call them this way, you can really identify if you are dealing with the real thing.
