Application Of Systems Modeling Software In Solar Energy Harnessing

By Alyce Powell

Systems modeling software is an application that has the ability to resize a region for a particular task to be made on it. For such an application to function efficiently and effectively, some of the most important factors that it should focus and expound accordingly are the budgetary allocated for energy and the very factors that may affect the functionality of this kind of system that are essential. It finds use both in building and energy generation.

During the sizing of a structure, a building or a region, the person carrying out this whole operation puts all climatic and environmental factors into consideration. These organizations go as far of obtaining information from institutions such as the NASA to get to know more on the weather conditions of a place. Of their importance is the amount and intensity of solar radiation. The cost of production and all this process can also be approximated.

It is proven that amount of incident solar radiations differ from one place to another. Its intensity also differs then. As one moves from a lake region deep to the main land the solar intensity changes drastically. Around the lake the radiation is extremely high with a lot of heat energy as compared to that of a mainland. Therefore this differing rates of solar energy as one moves from one place to another dictates that after a model has been properly demonstrated.

During this modeling also, the life span of solar batteries must be put to consideration. The performances of such batteries are affected by environmental factors ranging from temperatures to its own internally build factors such as it charging plus discharging properties among the battery features. In order to check on the operation and performance of this batteries and there life span, all this factors must be considered.

Real structures need maintenance and repair because they wear out with time. The designed structures must always depict the same. A used battery cannot at any given time perform as efficiently as a new one. This puts more work on the designers to find solutions to counter this unavoidable short coming. This issue has to be addressed during the design stage otherwise the same situation will be transferred to the main structure.

A solar panel design should be such that it can yield the same results weather in favorable or adverse environmental conditions. Once a suitable place has been identified, the structure should be put in place and set so as to produce and distribute the same amount of energy it should. This setting should also ensure a slight change in weather is addressed but does not affect the outcome power result.

Other than making it cope under bad weather, these important feature should prevail for a days or even weeks should the weather remain bad. Although the battery will be over used due to extreme discharging, it can be replaced if it is completely damaged.

In its applications in solar energy harnessing, systems modeling software has brought a lot of changes. Weather in bad or good weather relative to the operating conditions of a solar panel one can find energy for lighting and other applications. Sizing and modeling has now been made easier thanks to this application.
