Where to Get Music Downloads for MP3 Players

By Marcus Anthony

There was a time when it was a very simple process for someone to download all of their favorite songs from their favorite artists. Not only was it simple, but it was completely free. All a user had to do was go online and use Napster, this enabled them to download all of their songs completely free of charge. A Napster user could compile a catalog of all of their favorite tracks, completely free of charge. Well, lawsuits followed this and the rest is history.

Is getting free music still an option? Well, yes and no. It's definitely not as easy as it once was, nor is it legal in most cases. Some artists do promotions where they will give away some of their songs for free or at least at a very cheap rate. To be aware of these promotions, it is important to be a member at Amazon Music, Google Music, and iTunes.

Unfortunately there is no legal way to go about getting music for free. That said, there are still programs out there that will help someone do this. There is an application for Android that actually rips the audio off of a YouTube video and creates an audio file. While this is not a recommendation to go download music illegally, there are still ways out there to go track down music for free.

Believe it or not, even when someone has to pay for the music, there are definitely a lot of advancements in purchasing music. For one, people are able to get a music album for a much cheaper price. It used to cost $20 for a new release of a CD. Now it is very reasonable to get a new album for around $7. Some artists run promotions where they can be had for as low as $2.

There are definitely some things that are better now that music is sold digitally for the most part. For one thing the user never has to worry about being so careful about their music collection. No more scratched or cracked CD's. An electronic library of music is the ultimate in convenience. All the user has to do is log in to their account and wherever they are, they are able to listen to their music collection. That is convenience. Now if someone wants to get much free, it can be done, just not legally.
